Jon
Sammis didn't start out to be a maker of custom furniture.
Initially he was a cabinetmaker who created one-of-a-kind
peices for his family in his spare time, but soon his clientel
noticed his furniture and began asking for custom pieces
to go with their new cabinetry.
After
spending five years in the Navy as a Seabee, Jon moved to
Petersham, MA where he went to work for a top notch cabinet
maker named Tom Pugliese. During his years with Tom and
Tom's father-in-law Larry Nettie, Jon received a great woodworking
education.
Tom
Pugliese decided to move south in 1993, ten years after
Jon had joined him. Jon bought the business and started
Sammis Woodworking with the same conviction that he had
learned from his predecessor.
In
business nearly twenty years now, Jon makes decisions about
the details of a job based on what he would expect in his
own home.
